Description: Ayres Associates provided Marquette County, Wisconsin with digital, color orthoimagery services in 2015 as part of WROC. The aerial imagery was collected on March 27th and 28th and April 11th, 12th, 15th and 26th using a Leica Geosystems ADS100 sensor mounted in a fixed-wing aircraft. Aerial imagery was collected to support 0.5 ground sample distance (GSD) orthoimagery to meet ASPRS Class II horizontal accuracy specifications a 1" = 100' map scale. The horizontal accuracy meets or exceeds 2.0 feet RMSE using the National Standards for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA) standards. Resultant orthoimagery was rectified to a DEM created from the newly acquired imagery. Orthoimagery was delivered in PLSS section GeoTiff and MrSID tiles and a project-wide MrSID mosaic. The orthoimagery was delivered according to a section tile schematic. The project area is 464 sq. miles, plus a 500-ft buffer around the county boundary. Geographic Description: Marquette County is located in central Wisconsin in the Central Plain region of the state. The topography in this region is derived from past glacial activity, resulting in landforms characterized by unique geological features, such as escarpments, moraines and drumlins. Marquette County is primarily rural, with approximately one quarter of the land area comprised of wetlands and an additional third occupied by woodland coverage. Environmental protection and conservation are prominent in Marquette County, where there are several natural areas and wildlife refuges dedicated to scientific research and education. There are a few urban areas within the county, the most predominant being the city of Montello, the county seat. Supplemental Information: The Wisconsin Regional Orthophotography Consortium (WROC) is a multi-entity group led by regional planning comissions (RPCs) and WROC representatives from Ayres Associates. The goal of the consortium is to build and sustain a multi-participant program to acquire digital orthoimagery and elevation data throughout Wisconsin. Orthoimagery was collected for Marquette County in 2015 to provide consistent deliverable products and accuracy standards for each of the participating entities.
